Using Physics/Cloth

The Physics/Cloth palette allows you to incorporate physics and cloth simulations into your Poser animations. To open the palette, choose Window> "Physics/Cloth - User Mode" or "Physics/Cloth - Creator Mode" from the app menu.  The User Mode is a simplified user interface for packaged simulations such as dynamic clothing props purchased from an online marketplace.  The Creator mode is designed for use by advanced users that need access to the advanced controls to fine-tune things like the properties and interaction of scene objects in the simulation.

With the release of Poser 14, the Cloth Room technology was phased out due to licensing limitations and improvements to open-source libraries.  Many of the capabilities of the Cloth Room and some new ones have now been added back in the Physics/Cloth tools.  This includes a new 'Cloth Dynamics' object type for simulations that, when checked, enables cloth/clothing specific simulation characteristics.  Collectively these new cloth dynamics are referred to here as "Poser Cloth".

Summary of improvements:

Support for self-collision in cloth objects

Support for concave collisions with choreographed or rigid-body objects

Ability to visualize collision bodies during Live Simulation

New Poser Cloth "glue" feature that will auto-generate animated constraints to hold dynamic clothing in place during simulations based on proximity of the the clothing to the figure skin in frame 1 of the animation.  We hope this will enable a new class of clothing that can be created without the complexities of creating conforming clothing.  Content creators can use the auto-generated animated constraints as a starting point for truly bespoke dynamic clothing creations.

After you create a simulation, the objects in your simulation can be assigned one of three object types, which are detailed further in the sections that follow:
